Westchester County's Child Support Enforcement Recognized

For the seventh year, Westchester County’s Office of Child Support Enforcement has been recognized by New York State for outstanding performance in helping families obtain child support. Westchester was singled out for best overall performance and most improved in child support collections.

In 2008, the county collected $67.3 million in child support and increased collections by more than 4 percent. Westchester’s collection, paternity, and support establishment rates all exceeded the 80 percent goal set by the state, making it the most improved office compared to the six large counties in the state, excluding NYC. In addition to Westchester, large counties include Erie, Monroe, Onondaga, Suffolk, and Nassau.

Make a Dream Come True - donate a prom dress to a low-income teen

Operation Prom helps hundreds of teens who live in shelters, group homes, or very low-income households attend their prom at little or no cost.

Organizers collect donations and new or gently worn prom dresses from individuals and businesses and distribute them to students throughout Westchester at a special event in the spring. Eligible boys will also be able to arrange for free tuxedo rentals through a specially arranged vendor.

To request a free prom dress or tuxedo, students must be passing all their classes and be recommended by their guidance counselor, as well as meet the requirements such as a severe financial need.
