An annual event to help children in need of finding a loving home
Giving a loving home to a child can be one of the most rewarding accomplishments in life. In Westchester, we have many children who need homes. Some of these children are older, have siblings they can't be separated from or have special needs, making them more difficult to place. Every year, Westchester County participates in a program called the Heart Gallery. SUNY Purchase student Sam Velasquez volunteers his time to take touching portraits of these children. The point is to show each child as he or she really is - a wonderful child in need of a second chance. This year's Heart Gallery will be held in Westchester at the White Plains Galleria from Dec. 3 - 5, with an opening reception on Dec. 3 at 2:00 p.m. in conjunction with four Mid-Hudson counties. Our Heart Gallery is a traveling showcase of portraits to raise awareness about children available for adoption. Read more about the adoption process. You can also read the profiles of children waiting for adoption now, right here in Westchester County.
